Intrinsic factors are genetically determined. It is a natural ageing process of an individual. the speed can vary from person to person. Due to internal changes to cells, tissues, bones, muscles and organs which causes the atrophy of bones, muscles and descent of facial fat pads.

Extrinsic ageing is a contributing factor of intrinsic ageing which can cause premature ageing of the skin. Lifestyle factors including exposure, smoking, alcohol, diet, and stress can all lead to changes in the skin condition as well as health. Which also takes it toll on the skin.
